Eddie C and I have had a long standing agreement since YK2006 that on his next visit to the SF Bay Area I would personally drive him to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. So Eddie C flies in on Thursday and Vigilant Meerkat and Mr. VM take Eddie C to dinner at Scalas. Eddie C takes in a theatre production that evening. On Friday, I picked up Eddie C at the Millbrae BART station and we began our 1.5 hour drive south. On this road trip I found out that we have a lot in common, a love for music, cinema, the ocean and politics. A special treat for Eddie C and me was to have Eugene aka Robert from Monterey, who lives 6 blocks from the Aquarium, meet us near the Kelp Forest exhibit. Eugene took us on a short walk to see some harbor seals lounging on the beach. I am going to arrange for a "Robert’s Tour of Monterey" road trip for the SFKossacks perhaps in March 2008. TBD.

Eddie and I drove up the Pacific Coast Highway and what should have been a 2.5 hr. drive became a 4 hr. drive due to 2 car accidents that blocked all lanes. Our destination was the Cliff House for dinner. SallyCat and Mr. Cat met us there. Eddie insisted on buying us all dinner.
Now for the BBQ, on the west coast any kinda cooking outdoors is called barbecue for all you sticklers on the true definition of barbecue. ;p (plus Typing Grillin’ and Chillin’ hurts my carpal tunnel syndrome.) AND, RNinNC brought REAL bbq pulled pork which was amazing, IMO.
At least thirty kossacks showed up and made this a great event for all. The usual suspects were there but also several new faces! Highacidity and Ukiyo’s huge backyard was lovely and had plenty of shade for relaxing. Our pot luck was spectacular! I ate too much as usual.
