gchaucer2’s first novel as author Anna Burdette is a damn good read! I knew it would be carefully plotted and well written but was knocked out by just how addictively good it turned out to be!
I lost a whole night’s sleep because I couldn’t put it down — I just had to know how it ended! In very quick time, just a page or two, I’d become fully invested in the lives of its four main characters — and I needed to know they had all survived and were safely back together (I’m not going to divulge if Ms Burdette actually granted me this fervent wish for them).
Fast-paced and meticulously plotted, it was like stepping onto a roller coaster. The plot glided uphill then looped-the-loop, jerked sideways unexpectedly and plummeted downhill before climbing again. I was carried along by the unremitting momentum developed by the four heroes, the insanely evil protagonist and the whirlwind plot. Yet throughout, author Anna Burdette deftly controlled and wove together action with character development, clues and misdirection.
There is nothing tame about this book but the violence of the murders is balanced out by the beauty of a unique friendship between four very individual main characters. My favorite was Charles. Except to say that he is undoubtedly a progressive and innovative thinker, I’m not going to tell you any more about why I liked him so much — you’ll have to read the novel and figure it out for yourself. Amazon carry both the paperback and kindle version and, if you happen to know Anna Burdette in real life, I’m sure she’d be happy to sign your copy for you.
All our kosacks each have their own special gifts and we should celebrate them. gchaucer2 is a very talented writer so it is a privilege and a pleasure to celebrate it by enjoying a damn good read!
If you have already read the novel and haven’t written a review of it for Amazon yet, please consider doing so — every little bit helps and reviews are one of those helpful little bits. (◕‿◕)
